Washington, DC - The United States Postal Inspection Service has been invited to address the rise in mail theft and letter carrier robberies occurring nationwide at a House Subcommittee hearing on "An Update on Mail Theft and Crime."

We thank the House Subcommittee for the opportunity to discuss the increases in letter carrier robberies we saw from 2020-2023 and the implementation of Project Safe Delivery- our joint initiative to address these crimes that has made a significant impact since its implementation.

Today, Inspector In Charge, Brendan Donahue will deliver written and oral testimony on these efforts, including over 3,000 arrests, and new partnerships with law enforcement and financial industry organizations as a part of Project Safe Delivery (see attachments).
