Lane closures scheduled for I-64 at Montrose Overpass Bridge beginning Monday, February 16, 2026

There will be partial lane closures on eastbound and westbound Interstate 64, at the Montrose Overpass Bridge, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Monday, February 16, 2026, to install protective screening under the bridge. Work is in preparation for a bridge replacement project.

In July, Triton Construction Inc. was awarded a contract for $23,109,380 to replace the Montrose Drive Overpass Bridge over I-64, the bridge over First Avenue, and the bridge over Second Avenue in South Charleston.

"Our comprehensive long-term bridge management system has identified these three bridges as needing replacement," said WVDOH State Highway Engineer Jake Bumgarner, P.E. "We decided it made sense to have one contractor do all three structures to better manage the project and minimize the impact on the traveling public."
