On April 21, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Fan Xuecheng attended the 2nd Uganda-China Coffee, Investment, and Destination Conference. Mr. Bagiire Vincent Waiswa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Oliver Wonekha, Ugandan Ambassador to China; Judyth Nsababera, Consul General of Uganda in Guangzhou; Counsellor Wang Jianxun of Chinese Embassy and representatives from industry stakeholders from Uganda and China also attended.
Chargé d'Affaires Fan introduced the achievements of China's zero-tariff policy towards Uganda since 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He emphasized that China is committed to high-quality development and high-level opening-up. China is willing to work with Uganda, taking the launch of new five-year development plans as an opportunity, to continue implementing the outcomes of FOCAC, deepen partnership, promote industrial chain integration, continuously unleash the growth potential of trade and investment, and jointly create prosperity.
Bagiire and Wonekha highly appreciate the significant contributions of Chinese enterprises to investment and business development in Uganda, and elaborated on key investment areas and incentive measures, hoping that this event would serve as an opportunity to build a future trade corridor between Uganda and China, and enhance economic ties and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
