Minister of Foreign Affairs visits Honjo Life Safety Learning Center, Tokyo

On 12 May 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, visited the Honjo Life Safety Learning Center, an organisation under the Tokyo Fire Department. They were received by Ms. Tanaka Tomoko, Advisor of the Tokyo Fire Department, and executives and staff of the Centre.

The Foreign Minister received a briefing on the Centre's mission and operations, focusing on knowledge and training for the public on safety during various kinds of disasters, and exchanged views on the Centre's operations, target groups, systematic production and dissemination of knowledge in the Tokyo area, and standard operating procedures in times of disaster.

The Foreign Minister also visited exhibits and simulations demonstrating appropriate conduct during disasters such as fire, storms, floods and earthquakes. Each point highlighted the nature, risks, and appropriate actions to take in each kind of disaster, in a manner that is easy to understand, attracts public attention, and utilises modern technology to create virtual, simulative experiences. The visit was an opportunity to share experiences and strengthen international networks with Japan's relevant experts on disaster management, a crucial matter for Thailand given the increasing severity and frequency of disasters.
