BOZEMAN - Registration is open for noncredit courses and youth summer camps exploring construction and cybersecurity at Gallatin College Montana State University.
Students in sixth through 10th grades can attend the free Montana Cybersecurity Summer Initiative day camp June 15-19 on Gallatin College MSU's east campus, located at 705 Osterman Drive. Campers will learn about cyber hygiene and how to ward off cyberattacks through hands-on activities and a competition. Registration closes June 1.
For youth ages 11 to14 who are interested in carpentry, Gallatin College MSU will offer a three-day teen builder camp to help participants craft a birdhouse, toolbox and lantern. The camp begins July 14 on Gallatin College MSU's Frontage campus, located at 31950 Frontage Road. Registration costs $300 and closes July 1 or when all spots are filled.
Participants age 16 and older can learn the skills necessary to start an entry-level job in construction trades with the noncredit Job Site Ready course, a statewide collaboration between Gallatin College MSU and several two-year colleges. The course includes about 30 hours of online instruction and about 15 hours of hands-on experience, which will be provided June 17-18 in Bozeman. Participants will learn proper power tool use, project management skills and workplace safety, among other knowledge useful on a construction site. The course costs $350, and scholarships are available for the program.
