State Board Welcomes Public Comments on Four Sets of Proposed Election Rules Comment Period Starts May 15 and Ends July 14

The State Board of Elections invites members of the public to comment on four sets of proposed administrative rules on absentee voting, the photo ID requirement, recounts, and voting sites.

The State Board of Elections invites members of the public to comment on four sets of proposed administrative rules on absentee voting, the photo ID requirement, recounts, and voting sites.

The comment periods for all four sets of rules begin Friday, May 15, and ends Tuesday, July 14. Written comments can be submitted any time during the comment period, but the dates for in-person public hearings on the rules are different. Information about the proposed rules and links to the text of the rules are available on the State Board website at Rulemaking.

Absentee Voting Rules (Read text of the proposed rules and an explanation and reason for proposing the rules)

Once the comment period closes and prior to taking final action on the rules, the State Board will review public comments and consider revisions to the proposed rules in response to those comments. After rules are adopted, they are then submitted to the Rules Review Commission for final approval before they become effective.
