Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health is encouraging students, families, and schools to celebrate National Bike & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 7. This annual event promotes active transportation, healthy habits, and safe routes for walking and biking to school.
"Biking to school gets kids moving and feeling good, but it also brings them together," said Katie Johnke, Nutrition and Health Promotion Coordinator at Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health. "It's a chance to connect with friends and build healthy routines that benefit both physical health and emotional well-being."
Bike & Roll to School Day began as a grassroots effort to encourage physical activity and has grown into a nationwide movement. It highlights the joy and independence of active travel while raising awareness about safe infrastructure, reduced traffic congestion, environmental benefits, and the importance of community-building.
Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health invites all schools and community partners to participate and help raise awareness about making our streets safer and healthier for everyone.
