Des Moines, Iowa- Thursday, April 9, 2026 - Dust off your helmets and pump up your tires, Des Moines! Mayor Connie Boesen and Des Moines Parks and Recreation invite cyclists of all ages and skill levels to join the 2026 Mayor's Annual Ride on Saturday, May 2.
Serving as the kickoff to National Bike Month, this year's ride marks the 38th year of community support and investment in the Des Moines' world-class trail system. The ride offers a flexible, scenic 20-mile looped route through the heart of Des Moines and down toward Carlisle City limits via the new Karras-Kaul Trail Connector.
The Mayor's Annual Ride is more than just a morning of exercise, it's a direct investment in the City's future with proceeds from the event dedicated to bike infrastructure improvements, including the installation of new bike racks and essential trail maintenance throughout the metro area.
"Our trails are a premier attraction of Des Moines," says Mayor Connie Boesen. "The Annual Ride is a chance for us to come together, enjoy the fresh air, and ensure that our infrastructure and community trails remain safe and accessible for generations to come."
