Girl Scouts is a nationally recognized leadership program that emphasizes public service, civic engagement, and fostering a strong sense of community. Through time-tested, research-backed methods combined with modern, engaging programming, Girl Scouts equips girls with the skills, confidence, and character needed to succeed and lead.
Locally, the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida serves girls in Marion County by providing a safe, inclusive, all-girl environment where they can hone their talents, build resilience, and develop leadership abilities that will benefit them for a lifetime.
The organization's highest achievement, the Gold Award, challenges Girl Scouts to identify a community need, design and implement a sustainable solution, and inspire others to continue the impact. Gold Award Girl Scouts in Marion County have completed projects that create measurable and meaningful change, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and leadership.
"Girl Scouts play an important role in shaping the future leaders of our community," said Carl Zalak, Chairman of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners. "Through service, civic engagement, and innovative projects, these young women are making a real and lasting difference in Marion County. We are proud to recognize their dedication and celebrate the positive impact they have across our community."
