The City of Norman is spreading warmth this season by hosting a Community Coat Drive from November 2 through December 2, 2025. Five drop-off locations are available for anyone wishing to make a donation:
"We are grateful to the community we serve and cherish opportunities to give back," said Grace Holloman, City of Norman Accessibility and Culture Coordinator of the Norman Parks & Recreation Department. "We are hoping these efforts provide comfort and warmth to community members in need as we come into colder months."
New or gently used coats in any size are welcome. The City of Norman will partner with Red Dirt Collective for distribution. The Red Dirt Collective is a community-focused nonprofit in Norman that empowers the poor and working class through mutual aid, organizing, and policy work. They organize events, provide food assistance, promote community gardening and more.
The drive culminates on Giving Tuesday, a day celebrating "radical generosity" across the globe. Learn more: https://www.givingtuesday.org/.
