Salem, OR - Governor Tina Kotek released the following statement of support for Attorney General Dan Rayfield's action in federal court to block President Trump's unconstitutional attempt to restrict Oregon's vote-by-mail system.
"The U.S. Constitution gives power to the states to run elections. In Oregon, we uplift the right to vote and have worked hard to strengthen and expand our system to ensure everyone has a voice and that every election is safe and secure. I stand in strong support of Attorney General Rayfield's fight against President Trump's unconstitutional, undemocratic attempt to silence people's voices. We're doing everything in our power to protect Oregonians' right to vote."
Yesterday, Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read issued a clear directive to confirm that Oregon vote-by-mail elections will proceed as planned.
