Driving medicine that transforms clinical data into evidence with AI

Under the motto "Medicine that learns from every patient treated", the event will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, regulatory experts, healthcare managers and representatives from the technology industry to discuss one of the major challenges of the digital transformation of healthcare: turning the data generated in daily clinical practice into actionable knowledge that can improve decision-making, evaluate outcomes under real-world conditions and accelerate the adoption of innovations with demonstrated impact.

The BSD Data Days event comes at a key moment for the healthcare sector.

Although artificial intelligence is revolutionising biomedical research and the development of new clinical tools, many solutions still face the challenge of demonstrating their effectiveness outside controlled environments, integrating into healthcare processes and generating the trust needed for large-scale adoption.

The so-called Real-World Evidence (RWE) is becoming a key element in complementing traditional research, providing information on the real-world performance of treatments, technologies and healthcare delivery models in everyday clinical practice.

BSD Data Days is intended to become an annual forum of reference for knowledge exchange between science, clinical practice, regulation, healthcare management and technological innovation.

Its aim is to promote debate on how to harness the potential of clinical data to generate evidence, encourage the responsible adoption of innovation and contribute to the sustainability of healthcare systems.

A programme focused on the challenges of healthcare innovation

The event will be structured around six thematic blocks focusing on artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, the generation of real-world evidence, the combined use of AI and RWE in the field of chronic pain, regulatory and ethical challenges, the adoption of healthcare innovation, and the conclusions that will serve as the basis for the development of BSD Insights 2026.

The first confirmed programme will feature the participation of professors and researchers from the Autonomous University of Madrid and representatives of BioSmartData.

They include Daniel Ramos, Joaquín González and Doroteo Torre from UAM, as well as Juan Cifre, Severiano Dos Anjos, María Cayuela and Luis Ucelay from BioSmartData.

UAM, a meeting point between research and innovation

The choice of the Autonomous University of Madrid as the venue reflects its track record as one of Spain's leading institutions in biomedical research, health sciences and knowledge transfer. The collaboration between UAM, FUAM and BioSmartData, established through the UAM-BioSmartData Chair in Artificial Intelligence, aims to strengthen the connection between academic research, technological development and practical application within the healthcare system.

The Autonomous University of Madrid Foundation promotes research, innovation and knowledge transfer initiatives aimed at strengthening the link between the university and society. In this context, the UAM-BioSmartData Chair is a strategic partnership between BioSmartData and UAM, entrusted to UAM's AUDIAS research group. This group specialises in the research and development of artificial intelligence-based technology for data and signal processing.

BSD Data Days 2026 will take place on Thursday, 15 October, in person at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Participation will be open to researchers, healthcare professionals, managers, innovation leaders and organisations interested in the use of clinical data, artificial intelligence and scientific evidence applied to healthcare.

To extend its reach, BSD Data Days 2026 will also be available online via live streaming, allowing anyone interested in the use of clinical data, artificial intelligence and scientific evidence applied to healthcare to participate, regardless of their geographical location.
