In an era of constant innovation, the University of Cincinnati's College of Arts and Sciences raises the bar high as they host the second annual Discovery in Action Showcase March 31.

This event will feature presentations of projects by faculty, researchers and students representing the Portman Center for Policy Solutions, UC's Field Center, the Arts and Sciences Co-op program, various language studies and many of the other areas of study that fall under the umbrella of arts and sciences.

We need to focus on who we are as a society and what we're doing as a society.

James Mack Dean, UC College of Arts and Sciences

College of Arts and Sciences Dean James Mack said the showcase gives participants the opportunity to show off their research, student projects, implementable policies and more, while educating those in attendance on the other types of work taking place in the college.

"We need to focus on who we are as a society and what we're doing as a society," Mack said. "My hope is we're doing more than just what we do for a living."

Mack explained that the College of Arts and Science's mission is centered around the impact that we make in our society.

"It's going to be up to our next generation to decide what we should be doing as a society," Mack said. "So, one of the things I'm always excited about is watching the students' poster presentations in terms of what they're studying."

A variety of posters, tables and presentations will be set up in the Tangeman University Center's Great Hall, 2766 UC MainStreet, covering a plethora of different topics, such as AI literacy, global citizenship, VR technology, community partners as well as posters and presentations featuring student successes, research and innovation.

Free and open to the public, the Discovery in Action Showcase runs from 4 to 6 p.m. March 31.

Winners of the Discovery in Action Student Poster Forum Competition will be announced at 6:15 p.m. at the reception in Nippert West, 2700 Bearcats Way.
