OUWB celebrates Match Day milestone

Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) celebrated a defining milestone for its Class of 2026 during Match Day on Friday, March 20, in the Oakland Center Founders Ballroom on Oakland University's campus.

The annual event brought together students, families, faculty, and mentors to share in the excitement as future physicians learned where they will continue their medical training. Following a morning reception, OUWB leadership - including Stephan Sharf Dean Christopher Carpenter, M.D., and Associate Dean for Student Affairs Berkley Browne, Ph.D.-offered remarks leading up to the highly anticipated moment.

At exactly noon, students opened their envelopes simultaneously, discovering their residency placements and taking the next step in their medical careers.

Match Day is a nationwide tradition coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and represents the culmination of years of academic, clinical, and personal dedication. Members of the OUWB Class of 2026 matched into residency programs across a wide range of specialties and will continue their training at hospitals and health systems throughout Michigan and across the country.

Next up: The Class of 2026 will receive their M.D. degrees during their commencement on Friday, May 8 at 2 p.m. in the O'rena on Oakland University's campus.

Founded through a partnership between Oakland University and Corewell Health, OUWB is committed to preparing compassionate, skilled physicians who are dedicated to improving the health of their communities.
