As House Republicans prepare to slash SNAP benefits during this week's markups, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
"The Republican budget is a slap in the face to millions of Americans, including their own constituents, who rely on food assistance programs to put food on the table and make sure their kids don't go hungry. As Donald Trump makes groceries more expensive, his cronies in Congress are gearing up to rip away food from millions of Americans - all to fund another tax handout for the ultra-wealthy and ultra-elite. The MAGA Republican agenda couldn't be clearer: billionaires first, working families last."
As part of their disastrous markup this week, House Republicans are preparing to gut SNAP benefits to make permanent Trump's tax handouts for his billionaire backers and add "more [tax] breaks" for the ultra-wealthy.
