As Premium Hike Notices Hit Americans' Mailboxes, DNC Launches Republican Accountability Ad Campaign
Digital ads, billboards, and bus shelter ads reach voters in target Republican districts starting today
Ad campaign paired with organizing push to contact infrequent voters
This month, Americans across the country will receive notices from their health insurance providers that their premiums could double next year as a result of Trump and Republicans' refusal to extend the ACA tax credits. Amid the Trump Shutdown, Democrats are standing firm and fighting to save these credits that have made health care affordable for over 22 million Americans.
Today, the DNC is launching an ad campaign targeting vulnerable Republicans in Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Michigan to hold Republicans accountable for trying to jack up health care costs in order to give massive tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy.
In conjunction with the ads, the DNC is launching a strategic voter education campaign targeted to infrequent voters in these districts to make sure they know exactly who is to blame for their health care costs rising, including:
The new campaign will feature digital ads on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, along with billboards and bus shelter ads near local hospitals and clinics in the following districts:
DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:
"Rigth after the holidays, health care costs for Americans across the country are going to more than double because Republicans are refusing to work with Democrats to fix this crisis. That's why the DNC is going to make sure families everywhere know that Republicans are about to wreck their pocketbooks and price them out of health insurance. Through digital ads, billboards, bus shelter ads, and our state-of-the-art organizing team, we're ensuring that Americans across the country know that Republicans are solely to blame for the biggest premium increases in history. We should all be asking: Why is it that Republicans can make billionaire tax breaks permanent but refuse to prevent health insurance costs for working families from doubling?"
