City Warns Permit Applicants of Payment Request Email Scam

The City of Fort Worth is alerting permit applicants to a phishing scam involving fraudulent emails that appear to come from the City. These emails include fake invoices or payment requests and are designed to trick recipients into sending money to scammers.

Residents, contractors, developers, and anyone conducting business with the City's Development Services Department should use caution when receiving emails requesting payment for permits or development-related services.

The City of Fort Worth will NEVER request payment by wire transfer. Before making any payment, customers should verify that the sender's email address ends with @fortworthtexas.gov and confirm all fees by logging into their Accela Citizen Access account.

If you receive a suspicious payment request, do not click any links, open attachments, or send payment. Instead, verify the request directly through your Accela Citizen Access account or contact the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department at 817-392-2222 to confirm whether the email is legitimate.
