Nucleoeléctrica completed its first international sale of reactor components

The transaction covered the supply of components developed by Nucleoeléctrica for CANDU nuclear reactors, marking a further step in the company's strategy to expand its presence in highly specialized international markets.

Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. completed the first international sale of components developed by the company for CANDU nuclear reactors, similar to the Embalse Nuclear Power Plant. This marks a further step in the strategy the company is pursuing to expand its presence in highly specialized international markets.

The transaction was carried out with Candu Energy Inc., a member of the AtkinsRéalis Company and the designer of this type of plant. It covered the supply of flow restrictor outlet shield plugs (FROSP), components used to optimize operating and safety conditions in fuel channels, intended for the CANDU nuclear power plants currently in operation.

The president of Nucleoeléctrica, Juan Martín Campos, noted that "this first international sale of technology developed by our teams reflects Nucleoeléctrica's potential to export knowledge, engineering and high value-added nuclear solutions. The world is turning to nuclear energy once again, and Argentina has concrete capabilities to take part in that global picture."

The components were developed together with CONUAR and the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), bringing together national capabilities to supply technological solutions for nuclear power plants.

The components sold are used in CANDU nuclear reactors and form part of systems tied to the safe, efficient operation of this type of plant. The solution was developed and validated by Nucleoeléctrica technical teams, drawing on the operating experience built up at the Embalse Nuclear Power Plant.

A new approach in the nuclear sector

The agreement is a further step in Nucleoeléctrica's strategy to consolidate a business unit focused on exporting nuclear services and on making the most of the capabilities developed by the Argentine nuclear industry to broaden the company's presence in highly specialized international markets.

Against an international backdrop of rising energy demand and a renewed role for nuclear power, the company continues to advance initiatives tied to the commercialization of services, engineering and technological solutions developed by Argentine professionals for nuclear power plants in different countries.

"The experience built up in the operation of Atucha I, Atucha II and Embalse, together with the technological development achieved by our professionals, allows us to position ourselves as providers of services and solutions for other nuclear power plants around the world," Campos said.
