San Francisco County - Caltrans is pleased to announce that the second of three weekend closures for the 19th Avenue Rehabilitation Project finished ahead of schedule on Monday, May 11 around 1:30 a.m., about 3 1/2 hours ahead of schedule.
This 74-hour operation finished all Southbound lanes on 19th Avenue from Lincoln Way to Sloat Boulevard, covering 16 blocks and six lane miles on 19th Avenue, also known as State Route 1.
This phase of the project is repaving all northbound and southbound lanes of 19th Avenue between Lincoln Way and Holloway Avenue, approximately 18.8 lane miles, as well as Park Presidio Boulevard and the California Street intersection.
Organizing the work in three weekend closures will reduce impact on the public from 40 to 10 days. For all three closures, two lanes are scheduled to be fully closed with one lane open for public transit, emergency responders and local access.
All work is dependent on weather.
Caltrans extends its sincere appreciation to all travelers who adjusted their weekend plans - whether by taking public transportation, using designated alternate routes, or postponing trips through the corridor. Your cooperation significantly reduced congestion, enhanced safety for work crews, and played a vital role in enabling early reopening.
