On 30 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a working dinner with H.E. Ms. Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Patricio Powell Osorio, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Thailand, on the occasion of the completion of their tenures.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation and commended both Ambassadors for their proactive roles in advancing bilateral relations in a tangible manner across multiple areas. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to foster closer economic collaboration, particularly by maximizing the benefits of the existing Thailand - Chile Free Trade Agreement, while also pursuing the conclusion of a comprehensive Thailand - Peru Free Trade Agreement within 2026. He further underscored Thailand's intention to build on its engagement with Latin America as a strategic partner, particularly in supply chain connectivity, investment, and high-potential sectors such as high-value agriculture, clean energy, and technical cooperation, which will help enhance Thailand's future economic opportunities.

The discussions also covered the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation in addressing shared challenges such as transnational crime and related legal and social issues. Both Ambassadors shared their positive experiences during their tenure in Thailand, highlighting the richness of Thai culture, the warmth of its people, and its distinctive way of life, which contribute to closer people-to-people ties and mutual understanding, an essential foundation for further strengthening ties between Thailand and Latin America.
