Staff from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources' Olympic Region will brief the public on the region's ongoing responsibilities and it's plans fro the coming year in a virtual community meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 16.
From stunning Pacific Ocean beaches to rain forest valleys, the Washington Department of Natural Resources' Olympic Region includes the counties of Clallam, Jefferson, and the northwest portion of Grays Harbor. The region, headquartered in Forks, Wash., includes 371,000 acres of state forest, agriculture, urban, and conservation lands, including the Olympic Experimental State Forest, where DNR explores methods to meet the needs of wildlife through sustainable timber harvest practices.
During this webinar, Olympic region staff will brief attendees on the agency's ongoing responsibilities, as well as its planned activities for the coming year, including the outlook for the 2026 wildfire season, planned timber sales, recreation closures and improvements, and efforts to conserve some of the region's most ecologically valuable landscapes. Staff will also answer questions submitted by the public during the webinar, as time allows.
