Dr. Dana Ryan Receives Women of Distinction Honor

Mar 23, 2026

Western Nevada College Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Dana Ryan has been selected as one of 11 honorees for the Carson City Chamber's Women of Distinction recognition.

Dr. Ryan will be honored during a special awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at Casino Fandango, as part of the Chamber's annual Women of Distinction celebration held during Women's History Month.

At Western Nevada College, Dr. Ryan has focused on developing programs that prepare students for emerging job markets identified by local businesses and manufacturers. She has expanded opportunities for English language and adult learners, helping students gain the skills needed to succeed in the workforce. She is a strong advocate for community colleges as a pathway to continuing education and career advancement.

"Dr. Ryan's leadership has had a profound impact on our students and the communities we serve," said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "Her commitment to creating opportunities, especially for adult learners and those entering high-demand career fields, reflects the very best of our mission. This recognition is a testament to her dedication to student success and workforce development across Nevada."

Dr. Ryan's contributions have been recognized previously. In 2023, she was honored by the Nevada Women's Fund as a Woman of Achievement.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism, a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership with a focus on Career and Technical Education.

Dr. Dalpe will serve as a master of ceremony for the event alongside Brett Zunino, president of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada.

Since 2020, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce has recognized women who have made significant contributions to the community through their professional accomplishments, volunteerism and commitment to advancing others.

Tickets for the luncheon are $40 per person and may be purchased online at carsoncitychamber.com or by calling the Chamber at 775-882-1565.
