Fedorchak statement on House vote to end government shutdown

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) released the following statement after the House passed legislationto reopen the government through January 30, 2026. The legislation also includes three of the twelve appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2026, which notably provides funding for our farmers, ranchers, and veterans:

"From the start, Republicans made clear we wouldn't compromise on common sense. Thankfully, we didn't have to," Fedorchak said. "The completely avoidable Schumer Shutdown created needless hardship for millions of Americans, only to end up right where we started-passing a clean CR. It is high time we get the government working for the American people again."

BACKGROUND:

On September 19, 2025, House Republicans passed a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) to continue government funding at current levels-levels that Democrats enacted and have previously supported-until November 21, 2025.

However, the CR required 60 votes to pass in the Senate. Despite supporting these exact funding levels in the past, Senate Democrats voted against passing the CR, causing a lapse in government funding.

On Monday, November 10, after 41 days of a government shutdown, eight Senate Democrats joined Republicans in reaching the 60 votes needed to end the filibuster and pass a CR that funds the government until January 30. The legislation was sent to the House and passed today in a 222-209 vote.
