The WateReuse Orange County Chapter gathered on October 16, 2025, for a dynamic meeting hosted by Santa Margarita Water District (SMWD). The event brought together leaders and experts in water reuse to exchange insights, strengthen connections, and explore innovative projects driving the future of recycled water in the region.
The day featured presentations by SMWD Hydrogeologist Michael Blazevic, who discussed the Middle San Juan Basin Groundwater Recharge and Reuse Program, and David Rebensdorf from the City of San Clemente, who highlighted their water reclamation initiatives.
Attendees enjoyed catching up with colleagues over lunch and holding meaningful conversations. There were updates from industry representatives. It was a reminder that each attendee shares a commitment to advancing sustainable water solutions, which made this event truly worthwhile.
Attendees were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of SMWD's Trampas Canyon Reservoir & Dam-Southern California's largest recycled water reservoir-led by SMWD Chief Engineer Tricia Butler. With a staggering 1.6-billion-gallon capacity, the reservoir is a testament to the scale and impact of local water reuse efforts.
Thank you to those who attended the meeting and to those who organized and hosted the event.
We encourage those in the water industry to attend future WateReuse events-where innovation, collaboration, and progress come together.
