Taunton's Open Space & Recreation Plan was officially approved in 2024. Recently, the State updated its guidelines to extend the life of these plans from 7 years to 10 years.

To keep Taunton eligible for open space grants during this extended timeframe, the City has updated the Action Plan and is requesting public comment before submitting it to the State.

Comments will be accepted until September 29, 2025.

What's Changed?

  • All references to a 7-year plan were updated to a 10-year plan.

  • The "Years" column in the Action Plan (starting on page 112) was redistributed across 10 years instead of 7. Higher priority actions remain earlier, while lower priority items were shifted later.

  • The plan's timeframe was updated from 2023-2030 to 2023-2033.

What Hasn't Changed?

  • The plan's goals, priorities, and action items remain the same-no significant changes have been made.
