Video of the Senator speaking yesterday in a Senate spotlight to highlight the urgent need to address rising health care costs and explain the shortfalls of Senate Republicans' alternative proposals is available here.
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked legislation she supported to extend the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits for three years. Cortez Masto also voted against a Republican bill that would do nothing to address skyrocketing health care costs in 2026 and instead push Nevadans to junk plans that fail to cover the costs of preexisting conditions.
"Senate Republicans chose to let Nevadans' health care premiums soar next month by rejecting a simple, clean extension of the ACA enhanced tax credits. I'll continue working in the Senate to lower health care costs for Nevadans in every way that I can, but it is a shame that so many of colleagues choose to play politics today instead of giving families immediate relief."
