In addition to offering GLP-1 drugs at this self-pay price, Hy-Vee also offers nutrition support for those currently taking medications. Within its pharmacy and HealthMarket departments, the grocer carries a wide selection of products and supplements designed to support patients. Hy-Vee also offers one-on-one dietitian services, available virtually and in-person, to help individuals manage conditions like diabetes and weight loss. Many of these dietitian services can be covered by insurance.

Ozempic® and Wegovy® are both semaglutide injections; however, they are approved for different indications. Ozempic® is approved along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes, to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and with known heart disease and to reduce the risk of kidney disease worsening, kidney failure (end-stage kidney disease) and death due to cardiovascular disease in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

Wegovy® is approved along with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as death, heart attack or stroke in adults with known heart disease and either obesity or overweight, that may help adults and children aged 12 years and older with obesity, or some adults with overweight who also have weight-related medical problems to help them lose excess body weight and keep the weight off, and to treat noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in adults with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis.

Both medications require a valid prescription from a licensed health care provider. Patients may experience side effects, the most common of which nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and gastric upset. Please discuss possible side effects with your prescriber or pharmacist.
