Congratulations to Detective Stacy Kenney on receiving the 2025 Franklin County Law Enforcement Star Award. According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, STAR stands for selflessness, teamwork, accountability and respect. Detective Kenney, pictured left with Westerville Division of Police (WPD) Lt. Bryan Schwartz, was recognized for his outstanding work and relentless pursuit of justice, particularly in complex fraud and cryptocurrency investigations.
His initiative in pursuing specialized crypto training, coupled with his dedication, led to the identification of suspects and the successful recovery of substantial stolen funds for multiple victims, including impressive freezes and recoveries in cases involving losses of over $30,000, and a significant portion of a nearly $300,000 theft.
"[Detective Kenney] continuously shows his ability to work not only with his fellow officers, but others he comes into contact with, while working his cases showing his teamwork mindset and his respect towards fellow officers and victims," said WPD Chief Holly Murchland in a nomination letter.
Detective Kenney's commitment to accountability and his victims truly exemplify the spirit of the award and WPD's commitment to responding to the needs of citizens, preventing crimes and continually evolving to maintain the highest standards of service.
