Statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the passing of Elisabeth Harper

The announcement of the death of Elisabeth Harper, a career diplomat, who most recently served as Guyana's Ambassador to CARICOM and had previously held the position of Permanent Secretary.

The announcement of the death of Elisabeth Harper, a career diplomat, who most recently served as Guyana's Ambassador to CARICOM and had previously held the position of Permanent Secretary in Guyana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hits with shock and great sadness.

She was a model public servant who represented her beloved Guyana with meticulous brilliance and our region with a spirit of excellence and common bond.

Her quiet yet strong and strategic approach to yield meaningful results will be missed.

Beyond our nation's longstanding diplomatic ties with Guyana, we regarded Elisabeth Harper as a special friend of The Bahamas. On behalf of the government and people of The Bahamas, I extend
condolences to her family, the government, and the people of Guyana.
