Precautionary Waterway Advisory in Effect for a Portion of the South Fork of the Middle River

February 7, 2026 - Effective immediately, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory recommending the avoidance of water-related recreational activities in a portion of the South Fork of the Middle River following a nearby sewer overflow. The boundaries of the affected area are:

  • North: NE 24th St
  • South: NE 21st Ct
  • East: N Federal Hwy
  • West: NE 22nd St

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any other water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily. The precautionary advisory will be lifted once satisfactory test results are obtained.
