Revere Park Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Tennis and Pickleball Courts

Grand opening celebration includes an Earth Day clean-up

CHICAGO - Today, the Chicago Park District hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the four new tennis courts and two pickleball courts at Revere Park, 2509 W. Irving Park Road, in Chicago's North Center Community. Local officials and community members gathered to celebrate the $400,000 investment.

"As we continue to expand opportunities for recreation across the city, we are also building the infrastructure necessary to support the health and wellness priorities identified in our Strategic Plan," said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. "We rely on park features, like tennis and pickleball courts, to entice people of all ages to come out and play in our parks. Active recreation leads to healthy living, and that is our end goal for all Chicago residents."

At Revere Park, the Park District rehabilitated the four existing tennis courts, and added new drainage systems to the resurfaced tennis court. Additional modifications include an ADA accessible entrance, a new maintenance gate, fencing, and pickleball striping to one of the tennis courts for additional opportunities to play. This project is funded through the City of Chicago's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) fund.

With support from Alderperson Matt Martin from the 47th Ward, the Park District secured $400,000 in Tax Increment Financing for Revere Park improvements.

The court improvements are part of a larger, citywide Pickleball Mania program at the Park District. By the end of 2025, more than 200 pickleball courts will be added to the Park District's inventory.
