Darius Rucker Pens 'Deeply Personal' 'Love Letter To America': 'I Believe There’s Always Hope'

Darius Rucker delivered a hopeful new single on Wednesday (September 9).

Rucker's "I Believe," his first new music since his 2023's Carolyn's Boy, teased the song during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show over the summer, notes a press release issued Wednesday morning. He said at that time, "I call it my love letter to America. The way the world is, where we are right now - I believe in us."

"When all the lies you're hearing/ Are louder than the truth/ You're scared to take a chance/ Because you're too afraid to lose/ When everything you're feeling's just a different shade of blue/ Don't give up, give up on you "'Cause I believe in love/ I believe in truth/ I believe that hope's a place/ You'll always come back to/ I believe in light/ 'Cause I have seen the proof/ And I believe that darkness is the place we battle through"

Rucker wrote "I Believe" with Eric Paslay, Wayne Hector and Steve Robson, who also produced the track. It's "a deeply personal yet universally relatable song about holding onto hope, love and truth when the world feels uncertain. Built around a message of perseverance and faith in what carries us through difficult moments, the song serves as a reminder that even in the darkest seasons, there is always a path toward the light," states the press release.

"I think we all have moments when we wonder if things are ever going to get better," Rucker said in a statement. "For me, this song is about remembering what you believe in when everything around you makes that hard. I believe in love. I believe in truth. I believe there's always hope, and I believe in the people listening to this song. Sometimes you just need that reminder to keep going."
