Santee Cooper Reports Break in Main Water Line

Line Serves Goose Creek, Summerville, portions of Berkeley County

Earlier this evening, a contractor operating heavy equipment near Moncks Corner punctured the main line from the Lake Moultrie Regional Water Plant. The contractor was not working for Santee Cooper. The line serves the water agencies operated by the City of Goose Creek, the City of Summerville Commissioners of Public Works, and portions of Berkeley County.

Santee Cooper crews are at the site assessing the damage and necessary repairs. In the meantime, customers of these agencies are urged to conserve water as much as possible. We will update the public once we have more information.

The Goose Creek, Summerville and Berkeley County agencies serve approximately 200,000 people, and some may notice a drop in water pressure later tonight. Santee Cooper is keeping these agencies informed as our assessment continues. A boil water advisory could be issued later this evening from any or all of the affected agencies.
