City of West Hollywood Encourages Community Participation as Metro Prepares to Decide on K-Line Northern Extension Route

The City of West Hollywood is getting the word out that Metro will soon make the final decision on the route, known as the Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), for the Northern Extension of the Metro K-Line, the project that will bring Metro rail service to West Hollywood. Metro is currently studying underground rail options through West Hollywood, Mid-City (Los Angeles), and Hollywood. During the next ten days, after years of community outreach and technical studies, the Metro Board of Directors will vote to select one of three potential route alternatives.

The City of West Hollywood supports the San Vicente-Fairfax route, which would serve more jobs, residents, and destinations than the other options. This alternative could include up to three stations in West Hollywood and a fourth station just outside the city limits at North La Cienega and Beverly Boulevards, as well as a terminus at the Hollywood Bowl.

"The San Vicente-Fairfax route will put more than 125,000 jobs within a half mile of new Metro stations with connections to four other rail lines and 6 of the 10 busiest Metro bus lines," said City of West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman. "With more riders, more jobs, and more destinations, the choice is simple: San Vicente-Fairfax is the best route. Let's finish the line!"

Metro has posted the agenda for its Planning and Programming Committee meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11 a.m. The agenda includes consideration of the K-Line Northern Extension Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA). The final board report and supporting attachments, including Metro staff recommendations, are available here. The full Metro Board of Directors will then consider the item at its meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10 a.m.

West Hollywood residents, businesses, and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend one of Metro's upcoming Board meetings to support this transformational investment and the San Vicente-Fairfax route that would serve more of West Hollywood.
