Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) chaired a series of Public Day programmes held in Galle, Matara and Tangalle over the weekend, providing members of the public, serving military personnel, veterans and their families with an opportunity to present their concerns and seek assistance in resolving matters related to their welfare.
Two Public Day programmes were conducted on 15 August at the respective Town Halls in Galle and Matara, while another programme was held at the Tangalle Town Hall on 16 August.
During the programmes, members of the public and members of the defence community presented a range of issues and requests directly to the Deputy Minister. Relevant officials were instructed to examine the matters and take appropriate action to provide timely solutions wherever possible.
The Deputy Minister also emphasised the importance of ensuring that public grievances, particularly those concerning the welfare of serving personnel, veterans and their families, receive due attention and are resolved efficiently.
Minister Hon. (Mrs) Sarojini Paulraj, Deputy Minister Nalin Hewage, along with Members of Parliament L.M. Abeywickrama and Nihal Galappaththi, also participated in the respective programmes.
