The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has today published the first in a series of quarterly updates on its major technology investments.

This update builds on the initial information released on 21 September 2026.

Of the 32 projects previously reported:

  • 23 have maintained their previous status;
  • 4 have moved to a green status and are now on track;
  • 4 have moved from green to amber;
  • 1 has been delivered and closed.

Another 2 projects have been added to the table: the FY2026/27 Hardware Refresh and Consumer Data Rights Phase 2. Both are rated green.

Project ratings can change during delivery as risks and issues emerge and are addressed. Reporting these changes helps makes these visible. For every project currently rated amber or red, there are actions underway to keep projects on track and improve performance.

Publishing these quarterly updates is part of MBIE's commitment to providing regular, transparent information about how its major technology investments are progressing and how public money is being managed.

The next quarterly update, covering quarter 2, is planned to be published in January 2027.
