More than 165,000 Passengers Expected to Travel Through BOI for Spring Break

Spring Break travel is taking off at Boise Airport (BOI), with nearly 165,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal during the peak travel period of March 12 through March 22.

Travelers heading through BOI over the next 10 days are encouraged to keep the following tips in mind to help ensure a smooth trip:

SAY THANK YOU, BRING A DONATION
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers are currently working without pay due to a partial government shutdown related to funding for the Department of Homeland Security. As essential workers, they are required to continue reporting to work.

Community members who would like to show their appreciation are encouraged to bring donations for TSA employees, including non-perishable food items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and baby or pet essentials. Large collection boxes are in all terminal entrances for easy drop-offs.

ARRIVE EARLY - 1.5 to 2 HOURS
Spring Break travel is expected to be especially busy this year, as local school districts and Boise State University are observing the same break schedule . Travelers should plan to arrive at least 1.5 hours before departure if being dropped off, or two hours early if parking at the airport.

Keep in mind that parking may include a shuttle ride from the Economy Lot to the terminal. Arriving early will allow ample time to check in with your airline and clear the security checkpoint before your flight.

PARKING AT BOI? KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Before heading to the airport, check the live parking f eed on the airport's webpage to help determine where to park. The Economy Lot remains a convenient option and is served by a shuttle every 15 minutes.

For maximum convenience, travelers can also use curbside valet service or reserve a parking space in advance through The CarPark . Reservations are recommended for both services.

If you are picking up passengers, please use the c ell p hone w aiting a rea , located next to the Economy Lot. The new location provides ample parking even during busy travel periods and is approximately 5 -7 minutes from the terminal , which is about the same amount of time it takes a passenger to exit the ir aircraft and walk to the curb.

CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE
P
rior to arriving at BOI, please check the status of your flight with your airline. Passengers can also consider using their airline's app to download a digital boarding pass and signing up for automated flight status updates .

PACK SMART
To avoid delays, passengers should view TSA's " What Can I Bring? " page and begin packing with a bag that is empty to e nsure you do not have any prohibited items. Do not attempt to bring a firearm through a TSA checkpoint . Other prohibited items include explosives, flammables, knives, razors, replica weapons and more.
