Congress Passes Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the bipartisan Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act of 2025. Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) co-sponsored the bill that was led by fellow Pennsylvanian, Rep. G.T. Thompson (PA-15). It has since passed the Senate and awaits being signed into law by the President.

The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Actprovides schools with the flexibility to offer whole and 2% milk options, helping ensure children receive the nutrition they need to grow, thrive, and succeed in the classroom and beyond.

"Parents should have the freedom to choose what kind of milk their kids get at school," said Congressman Deluzio. "But current federal programs do not allow kids to have whole or 2% milk at school lunch programs. I'm proud that the Congress acted to fix this and give the full range of milk options to families in Pennsylvania and across the country."

The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Actis supported by many groups including the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the American Farm Bureau Federation, the National Milk Producers Federation, the International Dairy Foods Association, and the American Dairy Coalition.
