Equality California Announces New Endorsements for 2026 Elections

SACRAMENTO - Equality California, the nation's largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, today announced the endorsements of nine candidates running for national and state offices ahead of the 2026 primary and midterm elections.

"Electing pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot has never been more important than at this moment," said Executive Director Tony Hoang. "Whether it's in Washington, Sacramento, in local halls of power or on any number of statewide boards or commissions, it's imperative that LGBTQ+ people and our allies are represented and making sure our needs are being addressed with the appropriate attention and consideration."

  • Congressional District 26: Jacqui Irwin

State Constitutional Office:

  • California State Treasurer: Eleni Kounalakis
  • California State Superintendent of Public Instruction: Al Muratsuchi
  • Board of Equalization, District 1: Nelson Esparza

California State Assembly:

  • Assembly District 34: Randall Putz
  • Assembly District 36: Ida Obeso-Martinez
  • Assembly District 70: Paula Swift
  • Assembly District 75: Gerald Boursiquot
