Rain in the Forecast: How to Prepare for the Storm in Gilbert

Gilbert, Ariz. - Rainstorms are expected to move into the Gilbert area this weekend. While we welcome the cooler weather, these storms can also create potential hazards. Now is the perfect time to make sure your home and family are prepared.

Sand and Bags Available at Fire Stations

To help residents prepare, sand and bags are available at select Gilbert Fire & Rescue stations. Residents should bring their own shovels to fill the bags.

Locations:

  • Gilbert Fire Station 1 - 2730 E. Williams Field Road
  • Gilbert Fire Station 3 - 1011 E. Guadalupe Road
  • Gilbert Fire Station 9 - 3355 E. Ocotillo Road

Safety Tips During Storms

When the rain starts, a few simple precautions can help keep you and your neighbors safe:

  • Pull aside, stay alive. If you're driving in low visibility conditions, pull off the road safely and wait until conditions improve.
  • Report hazards. Fallen trees, large branches, or debris in the roadway can be reported by calling the Gilbert Police Department's non-emergency line at (480) 503-6500.
  • Give your irrigation a break. When the rain's doing the work, your irrigation system doesn't have to.
  • Check for power outages. If you lose power, check your utility provider's outage map for real-time updates:

Stay Informed

Gilbert encourages residents to stay alert for storm updates from the National Weather Service throughout the weekend.
