CONGRESSMAN MOYLAN ANNOUNCES FINAL CALL FOR 2025 U.S. SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS

(Hagåtña, Guam)-Congressman Moylan is reminding Guam's students that the deadline to apply for a congressional nomination to the United States Service Academies is Wednesday, October 30, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.

Each year, members of Congress have the privilege of nominating qualified young men and women to attend the nation's prestigious institutions-the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. (Note: The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination and accepts applications directly.)

"Serving in one of our Nation's military academies is one of the highest honors a young person can pursue," Moylan added. "Our office looks for well-rounded applicants-young men and women who not only excel academically but also show leadership, discipline, and a genuine desire to serve others."

To be considered for a nomination, students must submit a complete application packet to Congressman Moylan's District Office in Hagåtña by the October 30th deadline.

Eligibility Requirements:

To apply for a nomination, candidates must meet the following basic eligibility requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years old but have not passed their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year of admission.
  • Be a United States citizen and a resident of Guam.
  • Not be married, pregnant, or have any legal obligations to support children or other dependents.
  • Meet the medical, physical, and academic standards set by the individual service academies.

Application packets must include:

  • Current photo
  • High school transcript
  • ACT or SAT scores • Resume
  • Essay (500 words or less) explaining why the applicant wishes to attend a service academy
  • Minimum of three letters of recommendation

Completed applications should be submitted in hard copy to:

  • Office of Congressman James C. Moylan 330 Hernan Cortez Avenue, Suite 300 Hagåtña, Guam 96910

"These academies offer an incredible opportunity for students to receive a world-class education while training to serve our nation as commissioned officers," added Congressman Moylan. "Our students have the heart, talent, and discipline needed to excel, and I encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity and apply." For questions or additional information, interested applicants are encouraged to contact the District Office at (671) 922-6673.
