Pasadena Department of Transportation, Day One, and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition Invites Community to Ride for Bike Month 2026

PASADENA, Calif.- Rediscover the glee and excitement of riding a bike! Leave the car at home and see the city on two wheels during Pasadena Bike Month, from Saturday, May 2, through Sunday, May 31 , 2026. The City of Pasadena Department of Transportation organizes Pasadena Bike Month with community partners Day One and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition . This fun annual event returns to celebrate bicycling as a safe, healthy, and sustainable way to get around town.

Organizers have planned free activities all month long for riders of all ages and abilities, with some events requiring reservations due to limited ride capacity. Helmets are required for youth under 18 and recommended for all ages. Bikes should be in good working order to participate, including bike lights (strongly encouraged for night events).

"The City is pleased to once again support Bike Month, which is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to see, hear, taste, and feel all that Pasadena has to offer while riding a bicycle ," says Pasadena Department of Transportation Director Joaquin T. Siques. He adds, " This year, we're excited to include an E-bike Expo for the third time as well as bike education events and family-oriented rides in partnership with the Pasadena Public Library and the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. "

Highlights of Bike Month events include:

Bike Tour of New and Old Murals on Saturday, May 2, Pacific Asia Museum Parking Lot , 46 N. Los Robles Ave., 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Join Corey Dunlap, Pasadena resident and Senior Manager of Public Art for LA Metro and the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition as we ride to visit locations of Pasadena's murals and wall art.

National Ride a Bike Day on Sunday, May 3, all day:

Celebrate National Ride a Bike Day and go for a bike ride. Enjoy special deals being offered by local Pasadena business es. For the list of participating businesses, visit bit.ly/PasadenaBikeMonth .

National Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 6, all day:

Celebrate National Bike to School Day and ride to school with your kid(s)!

Beginner's Bagel Ride on Saturday, May 9, Caltech Lot 10, 314 S. Michigan Ave. , 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

Go on an easy-paced bike ride for beginners and practice riding on city streets. Oh, and eat bagels.

Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 14, Pasadena City Hall, 100 Garfield Ave., 7 to 9:30 a.m.:

Visit City Hall, get some snacks and say hello as you bike to work with thousands of other people across LA County and the US.

Tour de Allee on Saturday, May 16, North end of Big Bang Theory Way (Across the street from the Memorial Park Metro station), 9 to 11:30 a.m.:

Take the paths less travelled through 13 alleys across Pasadena. Along the way, we'll stop for ice cream.

Greene & Greene Architecture Bike Tour on Sunday, May 17, Gamble House Bookstore, 4 Westmoreland Pl., 9 to 11:30 a.m.:

Explore Pasadena's architectural legacy on a guided ride featuring a variety of Greene & Greene homes and the stories behind the iconic architectural firm.

Virtual E-Bike Brown Bag Presentation on Tuesday, May 19, Meeting Link Forthcoming, 12 to 1 p.m.:

E-bikes are a big deal now and there's a lot of confusion about them. Join this lunchtime session with CalBike Policy Director Jared Sanchez and Day One Active Transportation Director Colin Bogart. Learn about current e-bike legislation in CA, how to know which e-bikes are actually bicycles (and which ones are not), and ask questions.

Klunkerz 20th Anniversary Screening on Thursday, May 21, Jefferson Branch Library Auditorium, 1500 E. Villa St., 7 to 9 p.m.:

Watch Klunkerz , a documentary on the origins of mountain biking, followed by a live Q&A with the film's director, William Savage.

Family Fun Day and Family Ride on Saturday, May 23, La Pintoresca Park , 45 E. Washington Blvd., 8:30 to 10 a.m.:

Kick off the annual Family Fun Day at La Pintoresca and enjoy a short, casual neighborhood roll with neighbors and friends.

Kids Learn to Ride Class on Sunday, May 24, Robinson Park Basketball Courts, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave., 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.:

Kids will learn the balance-first approach to riding a bike, guided by certified instructors. Space is limited. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Pasadena E-bike Expo - 3rd Year! on Sunday May 24, Rose Bowl Area H (Near Rosemont Ave. and Seco St.), 2 to 4 p .m.:

See and test ride electric bikes from several local bike shops, all in one place.

Family Bike Festival on Saturday, May 30, Hastings Branch Library , 3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd. ,10 a.m. to 1 p.m.:
Celebrate biking at this family-friendly festival featuring a bike safety check, bike and helmet decorating, a short family ride and activities for all ages.

Ice Cream Ride on Sunday, May 31, Location Forthcoming (Please Check Website for Updates), 1 to 4 p.m.:

Back by popular demand, we'll be riding bikes and eating ice cream! We'll visit local purveyors of America's favorite frozen treats and sample their offerings.
