Governor Josh Shapiro will join Pennsylvania Department of Education Secretary Dr. Carrie Rowe, Pennsylvania Department of Health Dr. Debra Bogen, and Pennsylvania Department of State Secretary Al Schmidt for a roundtable discussion with experts, students, and parents about steps the Commonwealth can take to keep Pennsylvanians who use artificial intelligence safe and hold bad actors accountable. During the event, Governor Shapiro will announce new steps his Administration is taking to keep Pennsylvanians safe online, delivering on promises made in the Governor's 2026-27 proposed budget.
Since taking office, Governor Shapiro has been committed to ensuring Pennsylvanians are equipped with the necessary tools to keep them safe online. After signing Executive Order 2023-19 to establish clear principles for generative AI use, Governor Shapiro directed the PA Department of Education to develop its Information and Media Literacy Toolkit in 2024, equipping students, teachers, and parents with the tools needed to recognize biases and navigate digital spaces responsibly.
