Faculty Awards & Accomplishments: October 2025

  • Dr. Thomas Parham, professor of communication and media studies and associate dean for PBA's College of the Arts has been selected for an Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship by the Television Academy Foundation in Hollywood. He is one of 18 professors selected from colleges and universities nationwide for the 2025 fellowship program.
  • September was Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and at PBA, emotional and spiritual well-being are a priority. Students have access to 24/7 virtual support and on-campus care rooted in faith and community.   • Dr. Ana Jaramillo de Graham, assistant professor of counseling, wrote for Bill Owenby & Katherine Campbell (Eds) The Encyclopedia of Mental Health Trainings, Certifications, and Credentials, contributing in areas such as Family Constellations Therapy and Brief Structural Family Therapy.
  • Dr. Daniel Lawson, professor of finance, wrote an article, "GameStop's Direct Registration Movement and Financial Stability," which was published in Qualitative Research in Financial Markets in June 2025 and is available on the Social Science Research Network.
  • Dr. Elias Hajj Chahine, professor of pharmacy practice, co-authored an article over the summer entitled "Gepotidacin: A Novel Antibiotic for the Treatment of Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections," which is available in the National Library of Medicine. He was also involved with numerous pharmaceutical conferences and academic events that were ACPE accredited, certifying the accuracy and relevance of his work.
  • Dr. Fabio Aguiar-Alves, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, contributed to two separate articles, "In Vitro Analysis of Interactions Between Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa During Biofilm Formation" and "Intervention of Corynebacterium striatum in the sessile lifestyle of Staphylococcus aureus wild-type and mutants for ica genes in polymicrobial biofilms." Both of these articles are available in the National Library of Medicine.
  • Dr. Harm Maarsingh, professor of pharmaceutical sciences, was involved in writing an article entitled, "Effects of the P2X4 receptor antagonist BR11595 in a guinea pig model of chronic asthma." The article was accepted to the British Journal of Pharmacology on June 12th, 2025.
  • David Athey, professor of English, was published in Christianity & Literature by John Hopkins University Press in June 2025 for his poem, "After the Hurricane."
  • Dr. Kimberly Bain, assistant professor of English, had her research article, "Challenging Assessment Practices, and the Need for Multimodal Applications to Service Learning in First-Year Composition," published in volume 12 of Double Helix: Critical Thinking and Writing: A New Episteme, in June 2025.
  • Dr. Alain Puente Santiago, assistant professor of chemistry, contributed to two articles over the summer: "Boosting Electrocatalytic Nitrogen Reduction on Cobalt-Based Perovskite via Regulating Reaction Pathway Through Donation-Back-Donation Modulation" and "Stability of Single Atom Alloys Catalyst: A Theoretical and Experimental Perspective."
