WeRide Triumphs in Dubai, Winning First Place at the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - September 26, 2025 - WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology, won first place at the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport, securing almost US$1 million in prize money for its leading tech competence and ongoing contributions to Dubai's autonomous driving ecosystem. The award was presented at the 2025 Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport (DWC), where His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, visited WeRide's Robotaxi GXR display and reaffirmed the company's role in shaping Dubai's future smart mobility.

WeRide won first place at the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport

Competing alongside global leaders, WeRide, in partnership with Deutsche Bahn, outperformed all entrants, demonstrating its technical leadership and readiness for large-scale commercial deployment. The competition tested participants on technological innovation, business strategy, safety, sustainability, passenger experience, and integration with urban traffic systems.

WeRide's Senior Vice President of Engineering, Zhong Hua, spoke on a panel, "Steering the Future: Dubai's Path to Autonomous Taxi Deployment", where he highlighted the company's WeRide One autonomous driving tech platform, LiDAR + vision multi-modal perception framework, and HPC 3.0 high-performance computing platform as key enablers of safe, efficient, and scalable Robotaxi operations. Drawing on successful partnerships such as with Uber, Hua emphasized the importance of collaboration in accelerating deployment. WeRide plans to launch fully driverless Robotaxi operations in Dubai by 2026.

During the Congress, WeRide also signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to jointly collaborate on the Dubai Autonomous Zone. The company will initially deploy 50 Robotaxi GXRs in Dubai and plans to expand its Middle East fleet to 1,000 vehicles, aiming to deploy tens of thousands of Robotaxis by 2030.

Currently, WeRide and its partners operate the largest Robotaxi fleet in the Middle East.
