MoDOT to Hold Winter Weather Drills Oct. 15 and 16 and Press Conference Oct. 16

CHESTERFIELD - In preparation for the upcoming winter season, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will hold its annual winter operations drills Wednesday & Thursday, Oct. 15 and 16; and press conference on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Ballas Maintenance Facility, 12001 North Forty Dr. 63141.

During the drill, MoDOT snow vehicles will travel state highways and routes throughout the St. Louis area starting at 9 a.m.

Leaders from MoDOT, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the National Weather Service and the Illinois Department of Transportation, will brief the media on predictions and preparations for the winter season during the press conference.

Fighting winter storms to get Missouri roads clear is one of the most critical functions of MoDOT. With every storm, every available snowplow operator will work 12-hour shifts covering 24 hours until the major roads are mostly clear after a storm ends.

When winter storms are forecasted, MoDOT will communicate advance traveler information.
