BOZEMAN - After the second postseason win in the team's history, the Montana State University women's basketball team will continue to the Great 8 round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
The Bobcats will play the University of South Dakota on Sunday at noon in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Montana State automatically qualified for the WNIT following their loss to Idaho in the Big Sky Conference Tournament final. They received a first-round bye and defeated San Francisco 69-53 in their second-round matchup March 22. On Thursday, the team defeated the Portland Pilots 72-54. Both home games were played at Worthington Arena in Bozeman.
South Dakota also received a first-round bye in the tournament and earned the No. 3 seed in the Summit League during the regular season.
A total of 48 NCAA Division I teams were selected to compete in the 2026 WNIT. Following the Great 8 round, the Fab 4 will be played from March 31 to April 1. The championship game will be held on Saturday, April 4, at a to-be-determined location.
