Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation in Bath, New Hampshire

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces that members of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit are responding to a report of an officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday evening in Bath, New Hampshire.

According to initial police reports provided to investigators, State Troopers and local police had been pursuing a vehicle they had been trying to locate earlier in the day. Law enforcement report that the vehicle stopped near the intersections of Route 302 and Route 112, where Troopers and an officer made contact with an adult female. Police say the female was armed with what appeared to be a handgun. During the interaction, gunshots were fired, and the female was injured. She was transported to an area hospital where she has since been pronounced deceased.

There is no known threat to the public at this time, and no other private citizens or law enforcement suffered physical injuries. The exact circumstances surrounding this incident are now under active investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
