National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Analilia Mejia for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District. A proud grassroots organizer and advocate for working families, Analilia helped shape Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign and has long been at the forefront of the Progressive movement in New Jersey, fighting for workers and standing up to billionaires.

"Analilia Mejia's win in February's special election showed that smart, capable progressive candidates who stick to their values and fight for working families can overcome the cynicism of establishment politics and the seemingly limitless funds of unaccountable Super PACs," said Mary Turner, RN and NNU president. "Nurses know that nothing is guaranteed, and that is why we are proud to endorse Analilia in NJ-11 and are ready to get to work with her in Congress to champion workers' rights, protections for our immigrant neighbors, and guaranteed health care through Medicare for All."

"I'm proud to have the support of National Nurses United-nurses who show up every day to care for our communities, often under impossible conditions," said Analilia Mejia. "They know what's at stake when our healthcare system fails working people and have been on the frontlines fighting for safe staffing, fair treatment, and Medicare for All. I'm running for Congress to stand with them, guarantee healthcare as a right, protect workers' rights, and build an economy that puts people over profits."

NNU supports candidates who are committed to nurses' values, including safe staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. NNU looks forward to helping elect Analilia and working closely with her in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.

National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
