State Police arrest Bronx man following Halfmoon dispute

Press Release

On January 6, 2025, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Shaheem L. Morris, 35, of Bronx, NY, for Aggravated Family Offense, Menacing in the second degree, Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree, resisting arrest and Harassment in the second degree.

On January 5, 2025, at about 11:51 p.m., Troopers responded to a residence in Halfmoon, NY, following a 911 call in which a man could be heard threatening to physically harm another person. The investigation revealed that Morris and an adult victim were engaged in a verbal argument with two children present. During the altercation, Morris pushed the victim. When the victim attempted to call 911, Morris allegedly threatened to kill the victim if the call was made, leading the victim to hang up. Upon arrival, Troopers found Morris holding the infant and refusing to put the child down, hand the child over to a family member, or cooperate with the investigation. Concerned for the infant's safety, Troopers took Morris into custody despite his continued resistance. The infant was safely turned over to a family member and was unharmed. Further investigation revealed that Morris had been previously convicted of a Family Offense within the last five years.

Morris was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained while resisting arrest. Upon discharge, he was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. Morris was arraigned at the Halfmoon Town Court, where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
